To me, being the best dad you can be makes you more of a man than the bloke who stays at work purposefully late to avoid the chaos of bathtime (yes, I know dozens of them). Or the dads who brag that they’ve never attended a kid’s party because they “leave all that stuff to the missus”. These attitudes are common – prevalent even – among older fathers who judge their status by the amount of time they spent away from their families: the more they were preoccupied by work, the more successful they must be. |
